Can you integrate without the ERP vendor opening APIs?
Depends on the ERP. Usually there is some way, but it may mean a compromise (such as file transfer). We will tell you honestly when the technical starting point makes the integration fragile.
Event-driven or REST for us?
Usually both. Business events (orders, payments) flow through queues; queries through REST. We design the right balance together.
