Workplace wellbeing isn’t built on isolated events, but every now and then, a thoughtfully planned day can serve as a powerful reminder of what really matters in a work community.
We had a team wellbeing day just before summer holidays, and while the program was simple, it was full of meaning. We started the day with a shared breakfast – a relaxed moment to connect with colleagues, including those who had traveled from further away. After that, we held our monthly meeting, reflecting on the past month and looking ahead, especially toward the upcoming autumn.

And lunch wasn’t just a meal – it was part of the experience. We walked together across downtown Tampere to the restaurant, and that short stroll gave us a chance to chat casually and enjoy a bit of sunshine as a group. In the afternoon, we tried something completely new for many of us: a clay workshop at Mudhouse! The theme, chosen through a staff vote, was flowerpots – and under the guidance of our wonderful instructor Olga, we created them using the coil-building technique 🩷 Working with our hands, being creative, and laughing together around the clay brought out the team’s humorous and relaxed side. Many commented during and after the session how surprisingly calming and mind-clearing it was to work with their hands – quite literally with their hands in the clay. After the official program, some of us stayed to continue the evening together.

The importance of days like this is especially clear when part of the team works primarily remotely. While digital tools enable effective collaboration, nothing fully replaces the value of meeting face-to-face – even occasionally. And working with such a tangible material provided a nice counterbalance to our everyday work! These shared moments strengthen our sense of belonging and help us understand each other better, even behind the screen. They build bridges between everyday messages and video calls. And they remind us that a workplace is, above all, a group of people – not just roles or titles. When people feel well and connected, it shows: in the customer experience, in collaboration, and ultimately in the success of the entire organization.
Thanks to Mudhouse for the fun shared experience on our well-being day! Finally, here’s a photo of the finished pots we picked up after the summer holidays.
